A wine always has a story inside. You uncork a bottle and find the scents of the land, the toil of the winemakers. This is what happens with “Ti Cuntu” the Vittoria Rosso DOC barrique 2015 from the historic winery Tenute Senia located in Chiaramonte Gulfi (RG), in eastern Sicily.
The winery, founded in 1850, already from its label “Ti Cuntu” that is “I tell you about myself.” Only 1500 bottles, all numbered, 60% Nero d’Avola and 40% Frappato, produced with the valuable collaboration of the oenologist Peppe Romano. Six months in steel, plus 18 months in tonneaux, and then 6 months of bottle aging. The color is intense ruby red, deep and almost impenetrable, thanks to the remarkable presence of anthocyanins. The minerality of the soil is reflected on the nose where you can also find soft notes of vanilla, ripe morello cherry, dried flowers, vanilla and also hints of cocoa and leather. On the palate it is warm, dry, velvety, with soft gallic tannins that enrich the sip. This red is persistent, fine, fresh and savory on the palate.
Touching it, you feel the roughness in relief of the dry stone walls that characterize the Iblei. “For us the walls - explains Valentina Nicosia, one of the owners - have always been points of support and above all of rest from the labors of work. Hence the idea of the Ti Cuntu wine line, which brings back the memory of when you would sit on one of these walls, maybe with a glass of wine in hand and you would tell each other stories, talk about this and that. These days we do it less.”
The texture of the dry stone wall also brings back the emotions of those who look at the landscape in which the vineyards are immersed, among carob trees, olive trees, roses, wild herbs.
Overall, a balanced and highly valuable wine and it is for these excellent characteristics that it was awarded at the Vinoway Wine Selection 2019 with a score of 90/100, entering the Silver selection.

A wine with a pleasant sip that manages to best express the land from which it is born: Sicily. Land of fine grape varieties and myths such as the one that tells of a Nymph, the same one depicted on the label.
The wine is the
Nakrì
, Cerasuolo di Vittoria Docg Classico from the

, in the Ragusa area, and the Nymph is the one who, dancing together with two others, around the world, collected stones, fruits, and small parts of earth from the most fertile lands. The myth says that upon arriving in a place with a blue sky, she threw into the sea what she had collected and from the waves emerged a fertile land, Sicily.
And Nakrì is a wine that, when drunk, brings us back to this story and to that of many women who, in ancient times, danced in the evening to drive away the fatigue of working in the vineyard. The winery is located a few kilometers from Chiaramonte Gulfi, in one of the areas most suited to the production of the island's only Docg. It is owned by the Nicosia family, who have been dedicated to viticulture since 1850. Today, it is led by their descendants: we are at the seventh generation.
In total 17 hectares of vineyards where we find the classic Sicilian grape varieties, such as Frappato, Nero d’Avola, Insolia, and Grillo, alongside a small percentage dedicated to the cultivation of Syrah. From the grapes produced, as many as 10 wine labels are made. Among these is “Nakrì”, 60% Nero d’Avola and 40% Frappato. Alcoholic fermentation with maceration on the skins for about 8-15 days at a temperature of 25 °C, followed by 12 months of maturation in steel tanks and finally 6 months of bottle aging. Zero wood.
A production process carefully overseen by the oenologist Giuseppe Romano who delivers an easy-drinking wine. Pouring it into the glass, the 2014 Nakrì flows with good consistency. It has a deep ruby red color, consistent, warm. On the nose, it releases notes of ripe red fruit such as morello cherries, cherries, plums, and also pomegranate. You can also perceive spicy notes, toasted dried fruit, and a bit of minerality.
On the palate it is fresh, with good acidity, balanced, intense, and has good structure. It is appreciated for its soft tannins and offers good persistence. Ideal to accompany succulent meats, grilled, braised as well as aged cheeses.

Great public success for the event dedicated to wines from Sicilian native grape varieties, which took place in Cefalù, in the province of Palermo. The first edition of Vigen, the event organized by the ARCOM association (Artisans, Merchants and Restaurateurs of the city of Cefalù), ended successfully, enlivening the city of Cefalù and having as its central location the monumental complex of the former San Domenico Rectory, with tasting counters, masterclasses, and conferences.
Among Vigen's initiatives was a vote, using a special ballot, by the public for the best white wine and best red wine tasted at the tasting counters. The Grillo Vigna di Mandronova 2018 by Alessandro di Camporeale and the Cerasuolo di Vittoria Classico 2015 Nakri by Tenute Senia received the recognition. The two winning producers, Benedetto Alessandro and Valentina Nicosia, were awarded a plaque.
